09.    X = Forced Waiting

The following booklets delve into phenomenology via the lens of type. I picked “places of forced waiting” as a topic of environment to work with since it is frequently the closest we’ll get to viewing the world phenomenologically without noticing until it’s interrupted. The locations I chose to visually analyse, and translate into a book series were a bus station, a grocery store and an elevator.

I examined each location’s floor layout using architectural observational sketches and then used typographic principles to interpret/represent the place itself. Reading this booklet will hopefully help more people recognise the hidden fascinations of our surroundings by teaching them about each place more phenomenologically.
