12.    Northern Design Festival 2025: Transparency

At Northern Design Festival, we pride ourselves on being able to provide an open, honest, and supportive community. Whether you’re an aspiring creative or an established designer, our aim is to be inclusive and diverse, creating the opportunity to have open conversations about the industry.

That’s why for the 2nd edition of the Northern Design Festival, we chose the theme: Transparency.  At NDF, we aim to break down barriers by encouraging the sharing of experiences. By making them visible, we hope to normalise struggles, foster understanding, and unite through shared experiences.

To complement this year’s theme, the visual identity revolves around a “highlight” device, designed to illuminate important stories and experiences.  Having a flexible and dynamic design identity, with a systematic use of colours and a sans serif type choice, easily transferable across various mediums, was essential for teamwork.

As a result, we have applied the design of this identity throughout promotional campaigns for the festival on social media as a start, and further crossing into print material, lanyard design, posters, stickers, totes, etc.  Through this identity, we aim to foster greater transparency and bring the creative community closer together.
