Letters To Max centres on the correspondence between French filmmaker Eric (by letter) and Abkhazian former foreign minister Max (replying to the questions Eric asks him through voice recording). Transcribing and interpreting the film through book design, I discovered it to be a really easy and structured production to view. This prompted me to experiment with a clean and minimal visual language in the book design.
I opted to concentrate on the Gesture (e.g., editing, tone of voice, etc.) aspect of the film since it piqued my curiosity the most. I then glued a basic laminated front cover to a perfect-bound book to represent the process of a letter being sealed with glue. The blue and red pages are reminiscent of the classic Air Mail envelope covers, which stand out in the book and emphasise their significance when viewing the movie.
