07.    6 Signatures of 16

6 signatures of 16 is a 6-week-long project exploring the idea of the Tone of Voice through a publishing lens, documenting and designing a 16-page signature every week, summarising what I learned during my publishing design module, as well as my reflections. The contents of the book showcase different methods of translating information into publishing design, heavily leaning towards research processes and visual analysis from our lessons, all explored through the principles of publishing design. With each lesson, I was challenged to explore different typefaces and their history, several layout styles, and the use of imagery as complementary to the written content.

Throughout these lessons, I refined my skills in the medium of publishing, from typesetting to type legibility to more refined methods of layout design. I also improved my printing skills, specifically learning to print in signatures and binding the book using a kettle stitch binding technique. I then art directed and photographed this outcome, both in an inside and outside setting, to emphasise our exploration of the Tone of Voice in both inside and outside settings during my publishing module.
